The Face Behind the Bulls

My Name is Melissa, I currently work in the payroll world but I also own 2 other businesses that allow me to have the fun I want. I guess I should say it has allowed me to spoil my dogs the way they deserve!

I fell in love with the breed when I brought Bentley home, I knew I wanted to breed him since he was just so handsome. I made a post in a random bully group that I wanted to find him a girlfriend, I was greeted with a now friend of mine coaxing me to at least title him, this was our entry into the weight pull world, as we excelled in this sport, getting to know other breeders who taught me about health testing I knew that was my next step, 1 week before Bentley was scheduled for his OFA Hips and Elbows he got very sick, I rushed him off the the emergency vet, I was greeting with the horrifying news that he was classified as mild dysplastic and lower spine spondylosis. ( for more information on hip dysplasia,                        for more information on lower spine spondylosis

Finding this news out was soul crushing, I had big plans for him and they all came crushing down in a second. So I switched gears, focused on making his life as full and as enjoyable as possible. I knew I would do much more research when it came to my foundation female. So I did, I became very close with a breeder (AB Brickhouse Bullies) I watched her female Jada aka Cupid of Mischief come into this world, I watched her grow up, go through her health testing and I just absolutely loved her like she was my own, I knew I wanted my female off her. When the time came for her to have her first litter, I felt so honored being a part of the stud search, it made me feel so included, then came Nelli from the second she was born I knew in my heart she was mine, and the way it worked out she was.

During my years in the bully world I found so much uneducated people, people being ripped off and scammed by "fire" breeders, I vowed that I wanted to change this, I wanted to become one of the good ones, one of the trusted ones. I want to help educate people and allow them to be a part of the process, join me in my success. I also vowed  that I would be one of the good ones who put quality puppies into the world, by taking my time in finding the right stud(s) who bring to the table what is lacking in my program.

Based On UKC Standards

Companion Group

Quality is never to be sacrificed in favor of size and mass. UKC is unwilling to condone the validity of using exaggerated specimens of this breed in a breeding program and, to preserve its health and vibrancy, cautions judges about awarding wins to these representatives.

HISTORY

The American Bully breed developed as a natural extension of the American Pit Bull Terrier. The APBT has maintained a characteristic appearance and temperament for over 100 years. As with any long-standing breed, several types evolved from the parent breed, with one in particular taking on a specific build and structure that is so unique it was wise to recognize it as a different breed altogether. That being the American Bully breed.

The American Bully breed was subtly influenced by the infusion of several other breeds, which include the American Bulldog, English Bulldog, and Olde English Bulldogge.

The American Bully breed was recognized by the United Kennel Club on July 15, 2013.

CHARACTERISTICS

The American Bully breed is, first and foremost, a companion, exhibiting confidence with a zest and exuberance for life. Despite its powerful appearance, their demeanor is gentle and friendly. This breed makes an excellent family dog. The ideal American Bully possesses the athleticism to do well in performance events.

Aggressive behavior towards humans is uncharacteristic of the breed, and highly undesirable.

Disqualifications: Viciousness or extreme shyness.

GENERAL APPEARANCE

The American Bully breed is recognizable by its characteristic compact, strong, thick-set structure and build. Their appearance reflects a strong American Pit Bull Terrier foundation, blended with stock from other bull breeds.

The overall balance and correct proportions of an athlete are essential, and absolute soundness and proper muscle tone is a must.

Head properties are in proportion to the body, reasonable, and free of exaggeration..

It is a smooth coated dog that possesses great strength for its size. Although quite muscular, it is active and agile. Its presence is a picture of tremendous power and stamina that belies its kind and loyal temperament.
